We Survived the Polar Vortex!

Ginny's birthday was also Polar Vortex day! Did you know that we were colder than the South Pole on that day? Well, we were! At one point it was -17 with a windchill of -43. THAT. IS. COLD. Liam was out of school for two days because of it. His hockey class was cancelled too. All kinds of stores were closed, and pipes were bursting. Greg said the roads were bad with black ice. Our house is old so we have radiators. The day before we turned the thermostat up to 80 and it did manage to stay just above 70 all day. Thank you Lord for heat! Ah, but anyway, we did survive and now we can tell the tale of Ginny's polar birthday.
Now for these pictures it was a balmy -15 with a windchill of only -40. Where's my umbrella drink and beach towel?
This picture was taken about 20 seconds into being out there and I was starting to feel a little numb. Can you tell?
