Getting There

We got up bright and early at 4am on July 2nd to leave for our trip to Colorado! Our goal was to leave by 5am and we pulled out of our apartment at 4:55am so we got a great start. We woke Liam up at the very last minute to put him in the car and when Greg went in there to get him the first words out of his mouth were, "Colorado! Choo-choo train! Yippee!" Needless to say, he was so excited that he did NOT go back to sleep in the car.
After about an hour on the road, the fussing started. Let me tell you, the fussing didn't stop until we got back home about 10 days later.
Waving at one of the many choo-choo trains we saw between Ft. Worth and Amarillo (where we spent our first night).
After stopping for the night in Amarillo, TX we got up at 4am again and left for our final destination which was a house somewhere north of Durango, CO. This is a picture of Greg and Liam in Tucumcari, New Mexico in front of a homemade Mater from Cars! We were so excited to take Liam's picture with this because he loves that movie. The movie is all about Rt.66 and it was important to me to get a picture of him with some of the signs. I'm not sure if it was because it was so early or just because Liam was cranky the whole trip, but he was not impressed by the Mater.
Again in Tucumcari, NM
Not too far out of Albuquerque, NM. I thought the clouds were so beautiful and we were so excited to see some of our first hills and mountains (even if Albuquerque is much too desert like for my taste).
