Look What We Found...

So Greg had the day off yesterday, and we decided that we would go out combine hunting. Everyone is talking harvest right now (mainly apples and pumpkins because thats what you can go and pick yourselves) so we thought we might just see some. We decided to pick a direction, then a city, put that in the gps, and then just head that direction. There are amber waves of grain in pretty much every direction here so we knew it really didn't matter. We settled on going southwest toward Mankato (hello again Little House fans). Well, about 3o-40 minutes down the road our search ended. We saw a John Deere dealership with at least a dozen combines ranging from huge to gigantic to WHOA. There were tractors and trailers and attachments for cutting all manner of crops. Liam was SO excited (and we couldn't wait to let him see it all). Not wanting to waste anyone's time, Greg went to go in and ask if it was ok for us to just look around and we realized that the place was closed. That meant Liam got to climb and stare and see as many as he wanted! I took lots of pictures and several videos. In the next few days I will probably be posting a ton of them. This little boy, as you know, has been combine harvester obsessed for over a year now and it was so so much fun to seem him discovering and watching the REAL deal.

He chattered and pointed NON-STOP.

We discovered that they all have a passenger seat!

This attachment is for cutting corn. Did you know that it takes it off the cob? There were corn cobs all around the ground and kernels of corn stuck all over some of the combines.

The little fingers you see him reaching for are not rigid. They are very flexible and bendy! The only sharp parts are back up in there and they are like serrated razor blades.

Every picture makes me smile. I am so glad he got to climb and touch all those machines!
